After the Oder River, which sits on the border of Poland and Germany, was unfortunately polluted in 2022, millions of fish started mysteriously dying. What happened or how to fix it was unclear, but one group managed to come up with a simple yet genius solution:
Rocks.
Yup, rocks.
By placing thousands of tons of gravel in the river, the team was able to start the process of restoration. The gravel provided breeding grounds for fish, oxygenated the water, and created new passageways for land mammals. With this simple foundational element in place, nature took over.
